Arrowroot Sausage Gravy
Ingredients
1 pound Organic Sausage
1 large Onion, finely diced
8 ounces Mushrooms, diced
2¼ cups Cream or Whole milk
2 tablespoons Arrowroot Powder
Dash of Sage
Dash of Chili Powder
Dash of Cayenne
Black Pepper, freshly ground, to taste
Sea Salt, if needed
Directions
1. On medium high heat brown the meat
Slightly caramelize; past cooked, not burnt but dark
2. Add onion
3. Cook until clear
4. Add mushroom
5. Add the seasonings
6. Reduce heat to medium
7. In a different container make a slurry of the cream and arrowroot powder
8. Whisk or shake until lumps are gone
9. Add 1 spoon of sausage drippings to slurry
10. Whisk/shake again
11. Slowly stir it into the meat (sausage, onion, mushroom mixture) stirring the whole time until thick
12. Adjust the seasonings to your liking
