Enchilada Sauce from Chili Powder and Spices
Ingredients
¼ cup Certified Organic Coconut Oil
2 tablespoons Arrowroot Powder
¼ cup Chili Powder
8 ounces Tomato Sauce
1½ cups Organic Pastured Chicken Broth
¼ teaspoon Cumin, ground
¼ teaspoon Oregano (Mexican Oregano if available), dried
¼ teaspoon Garlic Powder
¼ teaspoon Onion Powder
¼ teaspoon Sea Salt, or to taste
Directions
1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat
2. Stir in arrowroot powder and chili powder
3. Reduce heat to medium, and cook until lightly brown, stirring constantly to prevent burning
4. Gradually stir in tomato sauce, broth, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder and sea salt into the arrowroot and chili powder until smooth
5. Continue cooking over medium heat approximately 10 minutes or until thickened slightly
6. Season to taste with salt
If the sauce is too thick, add an additional tablespoon of chicken broth
