Marinara Sauce
Ingredients
¼ cup Cold Pressed Olive Oil
1 Small Onion, finely chopped
1 clove Garlic, finely chopped
1 Celery Stalk, finely chopped
1 Carrot, peeled and finely chopped
½ teaspoon Sea Salt
½ teaspoon Black Pepper, freshly ground
32 ounces Tomatoes, crushed
1 Bay Leaf, dried
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (optional)
Directions
1. In a large pot, heat the oil over a medium-high flame
2. Add the onions and garlic
3. Saute until the onions are translucent, about 10 minutes
4. Add the celery, carrots, salt and pepper
5. Saute until all the vegetables are soft, about 10 minutes
6. Add the tomatoes, bay leaf and Italian seasoning
7. Simmer uncovered over low heat until the sauce thickens, about 1 hour
8. Remove and discard the bay leaf
9. Season the sauce with more salt and pepper, to taste
